Virtual Image Disaster Recovery (VIDR)
Virtual Image Disaster Recovery (VIDR) is saving companies thousands in additional hardware, infrastructure costs and remote sites. By using virtualsation technology provided by Splitsec, we are able to provide your company with multiple virtual copies of your servers ready to go instantly.
Virtual Image Disaster Recovery (VIDR) means you can have your systems up and running quickly and efficiently. Recovering a single server or entire infrastructure has never been easier, giving you total peace of mind. This service allows virtual servers hosted at our data center to be back within your network with minimum interruption to your business. In addition to that, your team can connect to your entire system hosted at our data centre using Citrix, Terminal Server or RemoteAPP to continue working from home or a serviced office until your system is completely restored.|
How it works
Virtual Image disaster Recovery (VIDR) works by taking ‘bare metal backups’of a single server or multiple servers and can be quickly recovered into Splitsec’s virtual disaster recovery platform or brought to your site on a loan server. These server images can then quickly provisioned for remote access or in the event of a catastrophic loss of your site -, as a whole via a loan server running the images.
Users are then able to logon to Splitsec’s VIDR platform which will deliver an exact replica of your existing applications and the underlying server infrastructure to users who can work from any internet connected machine, anywhere in the world.
The Virtualisation Process
Your servers are virtualised by a quarterly snapshot of the system being taken which converts the entire server into a few files representing the hardware configuration, operating system installation, and the application installation. Once the snapshot is taken, it is copied to a hard drive and taken to our virtual image disaster recovery servers. The image is shut off and kept as a saved file which can be ‘powered up’ when required on any physical server.
In the event that server failure occurs and major data recovery is required, our team of engineers will perform a perform a restore from you normal onsite backup media to restore changes since the last snapshot was taken. Your Staff will be enabled to connect to your entire system hosted at our data centre using RemoteAPP. Citrix or a Terminal Server to nearly instantly continue working from home or a workplace relocation office.
